Expertise and Passion: The Indigo Safaris Team

“Drawing from firsthand experiences, our network of service providers, and trusted suppliers, Christopher brings extensive firsthand knowledge acquired from living, working, and journeying throughout southern and eastern Africa, Oceania, Indonesia, and South America. His diverse background includes independent travel, professional assignments, and stays in various accommodations, enabling him to tailor trips to diverse preferences. We meticulously select and endorse our partners, encompassing lodges, hotels, dive centers, safari operators, trekking guides, and vehicle rental companies, all of whom are affiliated with their respective country’s tourism organizations.

The genesis of Indigo Safaris stems from Christopher Bartlett’s deep-rooted affection for Africa, ignited during his inaugural trip to Namibia in 1997. Following numerous sojourns across southern Africa, he settled in KwaZulu Natal in 2005, immersing himself as a safari and underwater guide. Integrating his burgeoning passions with his adeptness in photography and writing, Christopher began undertaking assignments for diving publications in East Africa, further enriching his knowledge of the region.

Upon relocating to the UK in 2009, Christopher amalgamated his expertise, organizational acumen, and love for Africa to facilitate others in discovering the continent, thus birthing Indigo Safaris. In 2015, he encountered Ines Moosmann during an educational expedition in Uganda and promptly recognized her as a consummate professional. Ines, now our Senior Safari Consultant, boasts sixteen years of industry experience, spanning Africa, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, The Philippines, The Maldives, India, and Australia. Fluent in German, she also holds qualifications as a yoga instructor. Ascending from Sales & Product Manager in 2018 to a Director in 2021, Ines continues to spearhead our sales and product initiatives.

Joining us in 2019, Matthew O’Brien, a native South African and former guide in Namibia and Botswana, enriches our team with his profound expertise in southern Africa safaris. Matthew’s ardor for sharing his knowledge and engaging with clients underscores his role.

In May 2022, Kerry became a valuable addition to our Cape Town-based team. With a robust background encompassing guiding and itinerary design across southern and eastern Africa, Kerry’s dedication to crafting unparalleled guest experiences reflects her extensive travels and passion for the African wilderness.

Matthew Milward, a Capetonian who joined us in early 2023, brings six years of safari specialization honed during his global travels and extensive exploration of Africa. His enthusiastic approach and meticulous trip curation enhance our offerings.

Michele Addison, transitioning from Kwa-Zulu Natal to the Eastern Cape, infuses over two decades of expertise as a tour guide, dive operator, and tour operator into our team. With roots in Zambia and Botswana, Michele’s lifelong commitment to African wildlife and communities shines through her dedication to crafting exceptional safari experiences.”
